Leeann Starkey
ICC CURRICULUM COORDINATOR, COMPOSER IN RESIDENCE, AND DIRECTOR

DIRECTING MUSIC AT PLAY – HENDRICKS COUNTY: DANVILLE, BEGINNING LEVEL CHOIR AND LYRIC CHOIR – HENDRICKS COUNTY: BROWNSBURG

Leeann Starkey is a music educator, conductor, and composer. Her primary passion is enriching the lives of children through choral music. In addition to being a conductor for the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, Leeann has served as a clinician throughout the Midwest at various choral festivals. In 2008, Leeann graduated summa cum laude and as Presser Scholar from Taylor University, with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. She earned a Master of Music in Choral Conducting in 2012 from Butler University, where she studied with Henry Leck and Dr. Eric Stark. During her years of classroom teaching, she taught preschool through 8th grade general music and choir in the Tippecanoe School Corporation and Archdiocese of Indianapolis. She also served as a conductor with the Lafayette Children’s Choir of the Lafayette Master Chorale for nearly a decade.

Leeann serves as the ICC Curriculum Coordinator, Composer in Residence, and Co-Editor of the ICC Publishing House. Her choral compositions are published through Colla Voce Music and the ICC Publishing House and have been featured in festivals and honor choirs throughout North America. She is a member of the Organization of American Kodály Educators, American Choral Directors Association, and Indiana Choral Directors Association. She is certified in Orff Schulwerk, Kodály, Conversational Solfege, and First Steps in Music.
