Advanced and Intermediate Choirs
The Indy Voice, and Kantorei choirs include those students who have demonstrated a high degree of vocal and sight-singing ability. Lyric and Chamber choirs include students who exhibit a strong desire to sing and have demonstrated an intermediate proficiency in vocal technique and sight reading abilities.
Beginning Level Choirs
The following beginning level choirs meet once per week:
- Boone County Children’s Choir
- Carmel Children’s Choir
- Fishers Children’s Choir
- Hendricks County Children’s Choir
- Johnson County Children’s Choir
These beginning level singers are in grades four through seven and have demonstrated the ability to sing in tune and a readiness to develop sight-reading and harmonic skills.

Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir
The Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir (CICC) also serves children in grades four through nine with two regional choirs. Singers are placed by ability in either Concert or Descant choir. Ruth Dwyer directs this program with rehearsals taking place in Columbus, Indiana. CICC is a cooperative effort of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir and the Columbus Philharmonic Orchestra.

Singers in grades 4 through 12 are placed in a choir based on their ability and experience. A simple vocal audition (no preparation required) will determine the best fit for your singer. Beginners are welcome and rehearse once a week. You can choose between joining a choir that meets on the campus of Butler University or a Beginning Level Choir. We have choirs in Bartholomew, Boone, Hamilton, Hendricks, Johnson, and Marion counties.
