Master Chorale Singer to be Featured in Indianapolis Opera Show
Zoe Lowe, current high schooler and member of the ICC’s Master Chorale high school choir, is taking her singing to the next level. She’ll debut as Fredrika Armfelt in A Little Night Music with the Indianapolis Opera this May. We chatted with Zoe about this amazing opportunity to grow musically, here’s what we learned:
Tell us about your ICC journey so far.
I joined ICC this year. I had just been recently homeschooled and I wanted to fill the gap of choir class. I had worked with Mr. Pedde years back so I thought I would give it a try. I was amazed by the quality of teaching and the wonderful atmosphere that was created the second I came in. Mrs. Hughley is one of the best choir teachers I’ve ever worked with and she has been incredibly kind and welcoming in my new journey with ICC. I am only just beginning and can’t wait to be more involved.
What makes the ICC special for you?
ICC is special to me because we get to learn amazing music and get offered awesome opportunities, and it’s so awesome to watch everyone grow as musicians and have fun with each other as well.
What’s your favorite part about being involved in the ICC? What’s the most challenging part?
My favorite part of being in ICC is getting new opportunities to perform, such as performing at the All Star Tip-Off game, or caroling at the zoo. The hardest part would be learning new languages for music. It’s very rewarding when you learn it though.
Tell us about the show you’re going to be a part of!
A Little Night Music is a beautiful show with a book by Hugh Wheeler, and Music and Lyrics by Steven Sondheim. The show takes place in the turn of the century Sweden. My character, Fredrika Armfelt, is the daughter of actress Desiree Armfelt, and has seen her affairs and life throughout the years, and is very aware of the consequences these affairs might bring.
What inspired you to try out for for the show and how is the process going so far?
I am always looking for new opportunities, so I was beyond thrilled when I was offered this role. I think the hardest part was waiting for the rehearsal process to start! So far the process has been spectacular. This is an amazing cast you don’t want to miss.
What are your future plans regarding music?
I hope to eventually study musical theatre. Music is the best thing in my life and I can’t wait to study it more.
And finally, how can we come see the show to support you?
