Getting to Know the Big Fun Event’s Co-Chairs

This is a year for anniversaries for the ICC – the organization turns 30, and the Big Fun Event (the ICC’s annual fundraising gala) turns 10. For a milestone like that, the gala event needed someone really special to serve as honorary chair.

And in Al and Maribeth Smith, that’s exactly what we got.

Al serves as chairman of Indiana for JPMorgan Chase and Co., and Maribeth is the chairman and CEO of Maribeth Smith & Associates, Inc., an event planning and management firm in Indianapolis.

As an event consultant, Maribeth has worked with the ICC on many occasions over the past 30 years.

“We have grown up together!” she says. “Whenever our company wants to bring warmth and meaning to an event we call upon the ICC.”

That relationship with the ICC is part of what made Al and Maribeth obvious choices for the positions of BFE honorary co-chairs. And Maribeth’s enthusiasm for the ICC shows what a perfect match this is.

“Because the ICC youth are so disciplined and have such a strong work ethic, they will become some of our community leaders as we look ahead,” she says. “That not only bodes well for the arts community but for the great citizens of Central Indiana as well.”

“It is an honor for Al and me to be invited to be the Honorary Chairs of an event that will benefit an organization and choir we have held in the highest esteem over the years.”

The honor is all ours, Maribeth.
