News about ICC' New Building - December 2022

The ICC is excited to share this video announcement with all of you because it shares exciting news about the future of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. We have new aspirations for the next chapter in our history and now is the time to share the latest dreams with all of you – our ICC family

As many of you know, the ICC is in its 37th season and for 36 years, we’ve been housed at Butler University. Over those years, we’ve moved all over campus and have had many spaces that we’ve utilized for office and rehearsal space.

Learn More About the ICC's New Home!

Now, as we embark on our 37th season, it’s time to make another move — this time — to a home of our own. The ICC is excited to share with our singers and families that we will be moving to a new location — 9111 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN beginning next season pending all of the legal and other required approvals. This will allow the ICC to grow and continue to serve each of our singers and families in new and exciting ways.

We will continue to have a partnership with Butler University as the ICC moves forward. We have appreciated our partnership over the years, and we look forward to new opportunities to collaborate with the university in the future.

How the ICC Determined the Need:
Over the last five years, the ICC leadership and Board of Directors have been discussing what the ICC’s future will look like when we are no longer housed on the campus of Butler University. During this time, the ICC staff began talking with parents to determine the needs of families as we looked to the future.

The pandemic gave the ICC leadership and Board of Directors the opportunity to determine what our needs, dreams, and aspirations will look like for the future. Additionally, due to the pandemic, commercial properties became available, and the ICC began to look at our options.

After searching for properties for over two years, the ICC has found a building that we will be purchasing. This purchase is not finalized yet, but we wanted to share the news with all of you as we finalize the purchase in the next few weeks.

What’s next for the ICC:
The ICC just closed on the building and now we will begin renovations to the inside of the space to make it a state-of-the-art location for our choirs and programs.

This new home will become ICC’s headquarters and house the ICC’s offices as well as rehearsals that took place at Butler University. Our regional locations will still remain in the various communities we serve, but our main campus choirs will be located at the new building once the renovations are complete. We will continue to have a presence at Butler University after the new building renovations are completed.

We’ve been working with major donors for the last year as we’ve conducted a feasibility study and most recently began the silent phase of our capital campaign to raise funds for the building. We will have fun and exciting opportunities for each of you to be a part of this new chapter in ICC’s history!

The ICC’s new building will be a place of wonderful artistry, community, and belonging – all under one roof. We need your support to help make this dream a reality and we are thrilled to be able to provide a spectacular art space for your children and the community.

The ICC’s dream of having our own home is important for the growth of the ICC as we meet the needs of families and the community. The ICC has not taken this process lightly. We toured over 10 buildings on all sides of town over the last two years and we looked at other buildings that we did not tour as we searched for the right place to call home. We look forward to being able to share our new home with each of you very soon.

Ideally, once the demolition is completed, we will invite all of you to tour the building. As we progress through the renovation process, we will keep you updated with progress as well as the anticipated schedule for rehearsals and activities for the fall so that you can plan appropriately for your family.
