Anderson Area Children’s Choir’s long-time Artistic Director retires, passes baton to Indianapolis Children’s Choir’s Artistic Director

April 26, 2017

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Children’s Choir (ICC) and the Anderson Area Children’s Choir (AACC), two of central Indiana’s most recognizable music education and choral performance organizations, announced a major partnership on Tuesday.

Susan Finger, Artistic Director of the AACC said, “When I decided to retire from the choir, my first thought was to the future of the AACC. I had a conversation with my friend Josh Pedde, the Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, and we both enthusiastically decided that a partnership between our two organizations would be the best way to ensure that the organization would have the resources and stability it needs to be around for the children and families of Anderson and Madison County for years and years to come.”

On July 1, the ICC’s Artistic Director Joshua Pedde will assume the additional role of Artistic Director for the AACC during a two-year transitional period. Also on July 1, Susan Finger will become the AACC’s Conductor Emeritus. The AACC will retain its name and identity.

“The board and staff of the ICC are incredibly honored to partner with the Anderson Area Children’s Choir in this way”, said Pedde. “The AACC is a beloved institution in the Anderson community and we are dedicated to continuing its traditions and providing support and resources to help it grow.”

The ICC is well positioned and has a history of developing and providing support to other community children’s choirs outside of Indianapolis. It has had a similar partnership, for more than 20 years, with the Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir.

The AACC will present its final concert with Susan Finger at the helm on May 7 at  4pm at First United Methodist Church in downtown Anderson. The concert is free to attend, but a free-will offering will be taken.
